Allure’s 16th Annual Best of Beauty Awards at Jazz at Lincoln Centre early this week was glittering as well as substantial. The event was attended by over 400 guests.

The Best of Beauty Awards also felicitate the most breakthrough products. The Breakthrough Award winners introduce the use of science and technology to solve problems or perk up the effectiveness of existing products.

Hundreds of beauty products are launched each year in the market fueling the $56 billion industry.

Allure’s Best of Beauty Awards shops for all the latest beauty products. These products are tested by the editors, dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, and hair and makeup artists, following which the best products are shortlisted.

The Breakthrough Awards were: CoverGirl LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara, Coolway flatiron system, Eau Thermale Avene Antirougeurs Fort Relief Concentrate for Chronic Redness and RoC Retinol Correxion Max Wrinkle Resurfacing System.

The CoverGirl LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara measured the size of the average mascara clump and arranged the bristles of the Clump Crusher's brush in such a way so that clumps couldn’t form.

The Coolway flatiron system is a low temperature flat iron that leads to smooth, straight hair. Through the use of smart technology, it measures the hair’s texture, its moisture and external humidity and calculates the lowest temperature required to straighten the hair.

Eau Thermale Avene Antirougeurs Fort Relief Concentrate for Chronic Redness contains a molecule from the ruscus plant, which addresses the causes of rosacea (acne formation). It is the first topical product to tackle this condition.

The RoC Retinol Correxion Max Wrinkle Resurfacing System consists of two parts: a retinol cream to speed up cell turnover and improve collagen and elastin, and a resurfacing serum with zinc and copper micro-particles to enhance the skin’s bioelectricity.
