A new trend is gaining traction on TikTok.

Pre-shower makeup is trending on social media at the moment, with users sharing videos of them experimenting with their beauty routines. The hashtag "#preshowermakeup" has already amassed over 3.5 million views on TikTok.

In a November TikTok video that has now been viewed over 1.5 million times, a user named Bailey (@bailey.dee) explained the trend as "putting more makeup on right before you shower." Demonstrating this, the TikTok user did a soft, light makeup look with glossy lips.

The trend's appeal lies in the freedom it offers, with beauty enthusiasts loving being able to try new makeup styles that they can just take off right after.

Embracing experimentation, people are viewing it as a way to refine their makeup skills or simply create whimsical looks.

As one TikTok user defined pre-shower makeup, "It's when you experiment with makeup or do a silly makeup look because you're gonna wash it off right after so no repercussions."

In the comments section of Bailey's video, many others also said they enjoy putting on makeup before bathing, with one sharing that it's "so fun to play around and experiment” and another saying, “I like to practice, and if it turns out bad, I can wash it off.”

In another TikTok video under the hashtag, a user named Tori (@toriderae) had on a full-face of "pre-shower makeup" that included what appeared to be black liner applied to her cheeks, jaw, and her lips.

Her followers shared their own versions of pre-shower makeup in the comments section, with one saying, "Mine normally starts with trying to do a green eyeshadow look and then ends up with my whole face green and sparkly."

Another user commented that theirs "always starts [with] cool eyeliner and ends with squiggles all over my face."

TikTok creator Aimee also said she utilizes this pre-shower routine to refine her skills.

"When's a better time to learn?" she said in her video, in which she explored various smoky-eye styles.

Brands are also capitalizing on this rising trend. Beauty brand Ipsy recently shared a video featuring a girl putting on pre-shower makeup.

The caption read, “Pre-shower makeup is always unhinged [sparkles emoji].”
