It is not only an exercise to lose weight. It is a lot more than that. Yoga can benefit both mind and body. With its breathing techniques, meditation and body movements, it creates positive energy that makes every person who tries it feel good about themselves.

It is with this known fact that even famous celebrities are very keen on using yoga for these reasons and more. In fact, in her recent interview with People, Jennifer Aniston, who is known to be an avid yoga fanatic even mentioned yoga to be part of her daily routine.

"The purpose of yoga is to create strength, awareness, and harmony in both the mind and body," explained by Natalie Nevins, DO, a board-certified osteopathic family physician and a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor in Hollywood, California in an article published in American Osteopathic Association website about yoga.

In that same article, it further enumerated the physical benefits as well as the mental advantages of this meditative activity that started thousands of years back. Because of these, more and more people have started checking for yoga classes and deciding to give this exercise a try.

And because of this growing health awareness and demand, a lot of yoga classes are now being offered with different types of yoga lessons that will suit each individual's needs. An article in The Telegraph gave a brief introduction of five of  these different yoga classes available, namely Hatha Yoga, Astanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Bikram Yoga, and Restorative Yoga and how each varies from the other. It is because each person has different needs, thus these different classes were created. For beginners, the Hatha Yoga is mostly preferred and suggested because it is the slowest and the most basic. Another type is for those who want to muster the different yoga poses and movements and at the same time there is one available for those who crave for intense workout activities. Restorative yoga is ideal for everyone who uses yoga to relieve stress and fight anxiety. Though each has its own way, technique, strategy, and approach, all give the same health benefits and workout for a Zen and positive mind and body.
