Rumors are confirmed Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) has dropped the Yves by creative director Hedi Slimane and is now "Saint Laurent Paris."
The direction of the major brand change was orchestrated by the new creative director Hedi Slimane, fashion designer and former creative director for Dior Homme, of Christian Dior. Hedi, previously held the position of artistic director for Yves Saint Laurent before becoming the creative director after the desmisal of Stefano Pilati in February of this year.
The new name change will give a new start to the luxury fashion house brand founded by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé in 1966. The goal is to start, with a fresh and modern feel the the brand. 'Saint Laurent Paris' is not too much of a change from YSL.
Pierre Bergé, partner of Yves Saint Laurent, who is actively dedicated to keeping Saint Laurent's vision alive, when asked about the name change by Fashionista responded "I am very, very happy today to have Hedi Slimane because he is a great fashion designer and he has a great talent, a huge talent."
After all it was Pierre who brought Heidi to Yves Saint Laurent in 1997 to become the fashion house artistic director.
'Saint Laurent Paris will maintain the original vision, and focusing on "restoring the house to its truth, purity and essence - and taking it into a new era" said Bergé told WWD.
