Adidas decided to drop the controversial slavery 'shackles' design shoes by Jeremy Scott.
Adidas special designed Jeremy Scott's JS Roundhouse Mid Sneakers, was originally planned to be released in August, however the design made people view it as highly offensive and racist. The Adidas Facebook page launched the shoes "Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?'
The JS Mid-top features a yellow shackles looking features similar to what one would call slavery shackles.
The socialmedia quickly condemned the company for its design
"WTF @adidas sneakers with SHACKLES? Which morons approved these? Do Better"
'just saw the new ADIDAS kicks on the news, the ones with the shackles...what in the world are they thinking?? Whoa.
Adidas in response posted "Jeremy Scott is renowned as a designer whose style is quirky and lighthearted.. Any suggestion that this is linked to slavery is untruthful."
Jeremy Scott originally got his inspiration for the shoes from 'My Pet Monster, a purple monster with blue fur, horns and recognizable orange plastic handcuffs, popular in the late 1980's'
Due to increased pressure and negative feedback, the shoe apparels company decided not to release the controversial Jeremy Scott shoes.
"We apologize if people are offended by the design and we are withdrawing our plans to make them available in the marketplace," Posted Adidas on Facebook.
