Channing Tatum turned to Twitter for help when he accidentally left his backpack in a yellow cab, after being dropped off near Times Square, New York Saturday.
There were few clues to identify the taxi because the "22 Jump Street" star paid the cab driver in cash and didn't get a receipt reported the New York Post
With more than 7 million Twitter followers, the 34-year-old actor/producer asked his supporters to watch out for his bag, should they find themselves in a cab in New York City (especially near Times Square), E! News learned.
"Dropped off at 42nd street in New York City and left my bag in the cab!" Tatum tweeted.
"Seriously, left my black backpack in a cab near NYC's 42nd street. If you find it, email me at findmybag@channingtatumunwrapped.com. Thanks!" Tatum added, following the first message.
Tatum's appeal on the social media site received overwhelming responses from his fans.
One follower named Krist (@payne_kirsten) tweeted, "I'll find it don't worry."
"I will make it my MISSION," another fan, named Shannon Nicole (@xSnicolex) said.
While maisha (@m_mahjebin) posted a comment saying, "IM BOUT TO GO TO NY RN JUST TO FIND THIS BAG MAN."
Allan Fromberg, a spokesperson for The Taxi and Limousine Commission, said that the agency was aware of Tatum's dilemma and reached out to him through a custom made email address, according to New York Daily News.
The Taxi and Limousine Commission has a lost property inquiry page. However, detailed information such as date, time of ride, taxi driver's name and/or license number are needed to track the missing property.
It's going to be a lengthy process in Tatum's case, considering he was not able to get the receipt from the taxi driver.
Fortunately, the rucksack was found and returned to the "Dear John" actor on Sunday. Tatum did not disclose the contents of his backpack.
"To everyone who tried to help and to the good New York Samaritan who found my bag and asked for nothing in return, thank you. Thank you all!" the "Foxcatcher" actor wrote on Twitter.
