The upcoming 2017 "Wolverine 3" movie could be Hugh Jackman's last portrayal of Marvel hero Logan, also known as the Wolverine.

Such speculations spread when the 46-year-old Hollywood blockbuster actor posted an Instagram photo, which showed his clenched fists with Wolverine's notorious single-paired metal claws on Saturday.

"WOLVERINE... ONE LAST TIME. HJ" he captioned the photo.

Fans have been curious as to why Jackman dropped this sudden bombshell of a cryptic post.

Jackman had been playing the role for 15 years, starting with the first "X-Men" movie in 2000, so it's understandable why he may want to stop, according to PerezHilton.

Despite Jackman's previous statement in an interview that he's enjoying playing the role of Wolverine more than ever, the "Real Steel" star cued that he is feeling his age, the New York Daily News learned.

"I love Old Man Logan," the Oscar nominee responded when he was sharing his thoughts on the kind of Wolverine story he'd like to portray in the future.

"I'd like to think I'm a few years off that, but perhaps I'm approaching that faster than I'd like to think," he added.

Meanwhile, it seems a lot of fans didn't take the actor's post very well. Proof to that are the reactions his followers on his shared Instagram post.

"The day you stop playing wolverine is the day I die a little inside!!" one follower commented. While another fan wrote, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." It was also followed by one more emotional message, "So I'm just going to go hide in a corner and cry now."

In 2013, Jackman had his solo spotlight for the film "Wolverine." His latest appearance was in 2014 for the movie "X-Men: Days of Future Past," with James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence, playing the younger versions of the mutant characters.

As of the moment, it is yet to be confirmed whether or not he will appear in the film's franchise, "X-Men: Apocalypse" in May 2016, which happens to be Jennifer Lawrence's last show up as Mystique, Entertainment Weekly reported.
