Brazilian fashion model Gisele Bündchen is leaving the runway for good; she announced Wednesday that she's retiring from the runway in April.

The 34-year-old model is reportedly wrapping up her career of 20 years after her final catwalk in São Paulo Fashion Week at the Colicci show, Huffington Post has learned.

Prior to her announcement, a rumor about her quitting the runway earlier than expected surfaced online. And now that the rumor has turned into a reality, fans of the model are burdened to know that her final walk is just a few weeks away.

Bündchen is well-known for closing Alexander McQueen's runway and for making appearances at Chanel's runway. 

Despite her retirement from the runway, Bündchen confirmed that her fans can still see her in campaigns and editorials.

"Gisele will focus on special projects and also spending more time on her number one priority: her family," Gisele's sister Patricia Bündchen said in a statement, according to Yahoo! Style.

It's also a good thing that she's getting more time for her family. For sure, her husband, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and their kids, Benjamin and Vivian, love her decision of retiring from the runway to spend more time with them.

Bündchen started her modeling career at the young age of 13, after she was propelled into the spotlight by the Elite Model Look contest. Despite not winning the competition, Bündchen managed to seal a deal for McQueen's New York show and the rest was history.

The Brazilian beauty has fronted a lot of campaigns - mostly from luxury brands. She has experience in being a spokesmodel and endorser for Dior, Versace, Chanel Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Isabel Marant, Loewe, Belanciaga, Robert Cavalli, H&M, Louis Vuitton, Sonia Rykiel and Ipanema, among others, according to CTV News.

Following the announcement on her imminent retirement, Bündchen took to Instagram to thank her solid fans.

"Thank you to all my dear fans who dedicate their time to leave a message here," she wrote. "Thank you for all the love. A kiss in your heart and have a beautiful day!!!"
