Noted name in the fashion industry, Jimmy Choo has joined forces with contemporary artist Rob Pruitt for the creation of a new cruise collection.
This collection will include shoes, small leather goods and hand bags and will be part of Malaysian fashion designer Choo's 2013 Cruise Collection. The products, reportedly, will be on sale at the brand's boutiques and on their website starting November, 2012.
"We were captivated by Pruitt's energy, his computer-screen use of color and the festive exuberance of his prints and materials. There were elements in his work that reminded us in subtle ways of the Jimmy Choo design iconography. We sensed that Rob's twist on Jimmy Choo glamour would yield something very collectible and uniquely beautiful," said the brand's creative directors Sandra Choi and Simon Holloway.
Over the years, Jimmy Choo has collaborated with a string of contemporary artists and photographers, including Nan Goldin, for the 2012 cruise Icons collection; Marilyn Minter for the 2011 Crystal collection; and Richard Phillips for the spring 2008 collection. Pruitt is best known for his glitter panda paintings and for creating the Art Awards - inspired by the Academy Awards - at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2009 and 2010.
