Pakistan's Third Annual Fashion Week finally got under way after a spree of deadly clashes between political parties, followed by an array of strikes. The runway witnessed a new tread of fashion as designers portrayed they collection of traditional bridal wear along with more innovative offerings of British high-street brands like Next and Monsoon.

Creative director for Pakistan Fashion Week and one of Pakistan's most noted designers, Deepak Perwani said, "If we are showcasing British fashion on our catwalk it's because that's what people with buying power in Pakistan now want to wear." In turn he and the Fashion Pakistan Council are hoping this could help get the fashion world of this country a ticket onto more international ramps at the London Fashion Week this September.

Pakistan Fashion week 1 started on a successful note with seven fashion designers showcasing their talent, including Bunto Kazmi, Sanam Chaudhri, Sanam Agha, Ayesha Hashwani, Pinx (Pinky), Arsalaan Yahseer and Maheen Khan. This third Pakistan Fashion Week has taken some time off to come back with the vengeance. This year in 2012, Pakistan Fashion Week is touted to be the largest and grandest fashion week being held according to staff reports.

This is just the beginning! In a few weeks, designers from across Pakistan will be showcasing their bridal work in bridal couture week as well!

Fashion, more than any other industry, seems to have caught the popular imagination, with those who can't afford couture brands opting for cheaper rip-offs or diffusion labels.

"Our film industry can't compete with Bollywood and large concerts have become a huge security risk. And there are all these TV channels and sponsors who are dying for the glamorous content we can give them," said Frieha Altaf, one of the top event managers in the country. "There is big money to be made in Pakistani fashion."

The designer lineups are as followed:

First Day: Bunto Kazmi, Sanam Chaudhri, Sanam Agha, Ayesha Hashwani, Pinx (Pinky) Arsalaan Yahseer,Maheen Khan.

Second Day: Shehal Chatoor, Kuki Concepts, Ayesha Somaya Next, Rizwanullah, Tayyab Bombai, Umer Sayeed.

Third Day Shamaeel Ansari, Banni D, Ahmed Bham, Monsson/Accessorize, Gulabo, Wardha Saleem, Nomi Ansar.

Fourth Day: Sana Safinaz, Tapu Javeri, Abdul Samad, Body Focus, Deepak Perwani, Feeha Jamshed, Honey Waqar.
