Sony Entertainment's "The Interview" had a limited theatrical release on Christmas Day and the film's star Seth Rogen with Evan Goldberg visited a theater in Los Angeles, E! News reported.

Rogen served as the star, co-director and co-writer of "The Interview" alongside co-director Goldberg; the pair visited the Cinefamily on Christmas Day to celebrate the film's premiere.

Both Rogen and Goldberg took the stage at midnight and were met with applause at the 184-seater venue, which is only one among the 320 cinemas where the film has limited showing.

Sony Entertainment also included a $5.99 download in line with the limited release, all in response to the cyberattack and threats of theater bombing.

During the premiere, Rogen thanked the cheering moviegoers and said, "Thank you so f*cking much for coming. We thought this might not happen at all."

An eyewitness told E! News that the theater announced that special guests were coming and that when Rogen and Goldberg arrived, people "went nuts."

The executive director of Cinefamily Hadrian Belove released a statement saying, "Seth and Evan's arrival was the star upon our Christmas tree, and it really lit up the night."

Some fans also appreciated and enjoyed the pair's appearance, according to The New York Daily News.

Tom Sopit called "The Interview" a great movie, really funny and fantastic, and also said, "It was really great that Seth Rogen himself came out and greeted everybody."

Matt Orstein, on the other hand, called it a "farce of the highest level" and said that while the movie was funny, "it is definitely nothing that could topple a monarchy."

That same night, "The Interview" was also shown at the Williamsburg Cinema and Cinema Village in new York, among other indie houses. It has also been made available for download on YouTube Movie, Google Play and other online formats.
