Demi Lovato said she and former friend Miley Cyrus were "acquaintances" and "don't have anything in common" during an radio interview on Monday, Ace Showbiz reported.
Lovato was being interviewed on Boston's "The TJ Show" and addressed her relationship with Cyrus, saying "We're like acquaintances."
"It's life and people change," she said. "And, you know, I don't have anything in common with Miley anymore, and I wish her all the best."
The two former Disney stars have known each other since they were 14, but drifted apart after Lovato was admitted twice in rehab for cocaine, alcohol, depression, self-harm and an eating disorder, and Cyrus kept on with her partying ways and songs, according to Daily Mail.
A source close to the 22-year-old explained the falling out between the former friends, mentioning that it had something to do with Cyrus' partying, according to E! News.
The source said that Lovato's sobriety is important to her and she has chosen not to associate with people who partied too much, including Cyrus.
"Miley is a wild card," the source said. "Demi tries to be reserved in public and cares very much about how she is perceived."
The source then detailed the events of how the two singers met during a gathering, saying that the two did not speak nor made eye contact. It was "super awkward, very girly high school, pretending to ignore each other."
A source close to Cyrus, on the other hand, has said that Cyrus also cut ties with Lovato, calling her "no fun at all," according to Hollywood Life.
"Miley wants a friend and not a parent, and that is exactly the vibe that Demi gives off," the source said. "Miley thinks Demi is a literal buzz kill."
Cyrus recently celebrated her 22nd birthday and concluded her Bangerz Tour. Lovato, on the other hand, will open for Enrique Iglesias' Sex and Love Tour on Tuesday in Glasgow, according to Daily Mail.
