Melanie Griffith has a good reason why she will not be watching the upcoming erotic-romantic film "Fifty Shades of Grey" that stars her daughter Dakota Johnson.

In an interview with Extra on Oct. 10 at the Eva Longoria Foundation ALMA awards - which was just posted online Friday, Oct. 31 -  the 57-year-old mother of three said that she has read E.L. James' "Fifty Shades" novel trilogy, in which her second child's movie is based.

"I read all the books before I knew she was doing the movie," the Oscar-nominated actress said. "I really loved the books. I think everybody loved the books and everybody read them even though a lot of people will say that they didn't read them."

"But I think that I'm never going to see the movie myself," she added. "I don't think Don [her ex-husband and Dakota's dad Don Johnson] will ever see the movie. It would just be too awkward. [Dakota], I think, would be mortified if we ever came to see her movie. She said, 'You can see it up until I lose my virginity and that's it.'"

This is not the first time the "Working Girl" actress said that she won't be watching her daughter's film. In an interview with Indie Wire last August, she said, "I don't think I'm going to see it... [Dakota] was like, 'You guys cannot come. There's no way.' So we're not going."

But Griffith does not need to see the film to know that her daughter will do a great job. According to the "Lolita" star, Dakota, 25, has known since she was a teen that acting is the career she wanted to pursue.

"She hated school," Griffith told Extra of her daughter. "Around 11th grade, she was like, 'I'm going to be an actress. I'm going to be really big. I'm going to be bigger than you,' and she is... there is no lack of confidence with Dakota."

During the same interview with Extra, Griffith was also asked about her dating life since her separation from husband Antonio Banderas after 18 years of marriage, and she said, "I'm just kind of laying low."

But when asked what kind of man she would like to be set up with, Griffith replied, "I think I'd like to meet a cowboy, like a real man-man...Like somebody who's a man that's not concerned with this town."

Griffith and Banderas released a statement in June 2014 announcing their decision to divorce "in a loving and friendly manner," Reuters reported.
