Small secrets designers do to dress an A-List actresses- well just about anything, even break the law. Competition rising between stylists is becomign more and more obvious. Stylists have to literally fight to try and get that perfect dresss for their client for the day on the red carpet. What the big huff and puffing about?

A night at the oscars equals a night of millions of eyes catching a glimpse of this divinely inspired dress making that woman look heavenly. The reporters and everyone else asks who made it. The fame and fortune comes with the dress once they hear those words.

The relationship between the designers and stylists turns into bribery according to designer Philip Bloch. Styling Houses will bribe stylists to persuade their clients to put on their dress.

"Some stylists will take gifts from fashion houses, I've heard of them offering vouchers for liposuction and other nip/tucks. Some designers will just ask: "What do you want?" I've never got involved in that but I always say: "I wouldn't take a bribe, but I love a great thank-you present."'

Block also stated that designers could offer free face lifts and $5,000 'token of appreciation'.

This dress carries a heavy burden to prepare, but the rewards could launch the designers career- hence the fame and fortune. It could also change a designers life. It costs fashion houses huge amounts of money to dress a Oscar-winning actress. Merle Ginsberg, senior writer at the Hollywood Reporter states:

"Actresses are very often paid to wear a certain gown. Having Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman or Gwyneth Paltrow walking in your dress is worth an enormous amount of money in terms of advertising and brand, and the designers figured that out some time ago."

Tricks to be used include:

"Some designers do it the subtle way - the actress gets to keep the dress, she may be flown to fashion shows in Europe and sent free clothes all year round."

Designers are chasing after the following:

the biggest names designers are hunting after are Rooney Mara, Michelle Williams, Bérénice Bejo and Jessica Chastain

Ms Ginsberg said:

"These girls can pretty much take their pick of the dresses on offer, and everyone else has to wait in line behind them."
