Former Kiss bassist Gene Simmons urged women to begin thinking about earning a stable income instead of getting preoccupied with men in an interview with Andrea Tantaros on "Trending with Tantaros" Friday.
The Israeli-born rock star said ladies should begin reconsidering their economic status in preparation for a future without any man to depend on.
"The statistics predominately tell us they will run out on you. Yes, infidelity, but the other problem is the economics of relationships," said Simmons.
Simmons was promoting his new book, "Me, Inc.: Build an Army of One, Unleash Your Inner Rock God, Win in Life and Business."
Simmons explained that when trouble crops up in a relationship, women will be left with little options if they live their life completely dependent on their partners.
"Women have the option of becoming the housewife, which is respectable and wonderful but what happens when the man runs away?" Simmons added, according to the report.
After hearing his comment, Tantaros asked a more difficult question concerning Simmons' wife, Shannon Tweed. Simmons married Tweed in 2011, only after 25 years of living together, according to People.
Tantaros quoted a part of the book in which Simmons suggests that one has to be selfish and put himself or herself first.
"You had the blessing of a woman who stuck by you, who raised your children," read Tantaros, complaining that such lines contradicted Simmons' suggestion for a person to be selfish.
Simmons explained that he regretted not marrying Tweed sooner and that it was a big failure not being able to recognize the purity and sanctity of love.
"Why I didn't marry Shannon when I first met her and dropped head over heels with her is the stupidity and arrogance and selfishness of man," admitted Simmons, the report said.
Simmons claimed his fellow men can have more of such choice words in his newly released book, according to Fox 411.
