"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" star Anna Shannon confirmed Friday that she was sexually molested by the boyfriend of her mother, June Shannon, when she was eight years old, Daily Mail reported.
The young star of TLC's reality television show confirmed that she was the eight-year-old victim of the 53-year-old Mark McDaniel who as abused multiple times between Oct. 2002 and Mar. 2003.
McDaniel was indicted in 2003 on charges of "aggravated child molestation and aggravated sexual battery on his young victim." However, the case was dismissed and McDaniel was allowed to walk free.
McDaniel was also convicted in 2004 of aggravated child molestation in a different case in Spalding County for "forcing a girl to perform oral sex on him," according to Radar Online.
After his release from a year sentence in March, he and Mama June allegedly started dating.
The mother denied the claims despite the photos of them seen together.
Anna initially believed her mother's claims that she was not dating McDaniel, TMZ claimed.
But after seeing a photograph of the mother and McDaniel in bed together and learning about an alleged purchase of a car for McDaniel in September, the reality star is now convinced that her mother lied to her.
Anna now feels that her mother "betrayed" her. She said that "her relationship with her mom has been destroyed" and refused to allow her mother to see her, her daughter and her three sisters if McDaniel is still around.
TLC has reached out to the younger Shannon for counseling.
Following the daughter's claims, TLC decided on the cancellation of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," which her mother confirmed Friday in a three-minute video posted on Facebook.
"I just got a phone call this morning from TLC and as of right now there will be no more production of the show," the older Shannon said, avoiding eye contact with the camera. She went on to deny her involvement with McDaniel, saying that it was all in her past and she had not seen him in ten years.
"The statement of me dating a sex offender is totally untrue," she said. "I would not ever, ever, ever put my kids in danger."
