New York is tough on the streets but also on the runway. New York Fashion Week 2012 previewed trendy looks for the Fall/Winter collection. Top designers like Oscar De La Renta, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Betsy Johnson, and so much more displayed high fashion looks everyone will be fighting for.

The fashion event even featured new designers like Whitney Port from the MTV show, "The City." Here is a look at some of the last (but not least) looks featured on the runway for fashion week 2012, in a nut shell!

2. Curves. Hour-glass shaped dresses, but not too snug on the body.

"Mysterious, sexy and super urban" was how Francisco Costa described it just after the show. "The iconography for this is all super modern," he said.

3. Mixed fabrics.

"Innovative fabrics _ like technical tweed, bonded basket weave crepe and painted wool mohair _ enhance the collection's contemporary, urban aesthetic," Costa said in his notes.

Donna Karan

1. 1930's style menswear. Pinstripes, body jackets, tailored gowns.

Ralph Lauren

1. Mixed fabrics. velvet, wool, cashmere.

2. Plaids, flannels.

3. Tweeds.

4. Pops of color.

Whitney Port

"This line is obviously really near and dear to my heart, I've been working on it for quite some time," Port told MTV News.
"It's really reflective of my aesthetic, it's kind of that easy Los Angeles girl mixed with like the little funky streety vibe of New York. [There are] really fun prints, great embellishments, lots of texture," she added.

Milly by Michelle Smith

1. Futuristic.

"I started with very technological fabrics, bounded double wools, textured tweeds a lot of lamination techniques," Smith said. "Very modern, futuristic fabrics, but they're cut in more traditionally classic couture silhouettes."

2. Vibrant colors.
