Peter Dinklage is set to star in "The Thicket," a feature film adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale's 2013 best-selling novel of the same name, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Set in East Texas in the early 20th century, "The Thicket" tells the story of a young man named Jack Parker who goes on a mission to rescue his younger sister, Lula, after she has been kidnapped by a violent killer, Cut Throat Bill, and his gang. Jack enlists the help of a crafty bounty hunter named Shorty (Dinklage), a grave-digging alcoholic son of an ex-slave, and a street-smart prostitute. Jack and the trio then track Lula into the deadly no-man's land known as the Big Thicket - a heavily forested area in Southeast Texas.

The movie is being produced by Gianni Nunnari ("Se7ven," "The Departed," "300," "Shutter Island") and his company, Hollywood Gang Productions. Dinklage and his longtime manager David Ginsberg will also be producing through their newly founded production company. Shannon Gaulding will also serve as producer.

"That Joe Lansdale's dark vision will be brought to life by the brilliantly talented Peter Dinklage starring as Shorty - it is a dream of mine," said Nunnari in a statement, according to ComingSoon.net. "This is the kind of original movie with edge and style that Hollywood Gang is hungry for; luckily we found all these things in The Thicket. We cannot wait to share this movie with audiences around the world."

Dinklage, who is best known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the hit HBO fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones," said that the book is "completely original," noting, "The characters and the world they inhabit jumped from the pages for me in such a cinematic way."

Meanwhile, Lansdale is a recipient of nine Bram Stoker Awards and two New York Times Notable Book Awards. He is also member of the Texas Literary Hall of Fame and is Writer-in-Residence at Stephen F. Austin University, according to ComingSoon.net.

There are no further details about the film, but development has started, according to HitFix.
