Rachel Roy launches her first designer footwear line this August, following the advice of her mentor- Manolo Blahnik. Although more affordable than his line.

According to WWD- Roys designer footwear line will start with a price of $195 for flats, while pumps will range from $225-$325.

The line will essentially be classic, but with a twist according to the creator. There will be elements of Blahnik via textured looks and mixed materials such as wool and suede. Roy, who partnered with Blahnik for footwear at her past New York Fashion Week shows, also combines neons and other bold tones with motifs of polka dots, animal print, and gingham.

"Designer shoes are one of the categories I've wanted to do but I was unwilling to do it until I felt I could really do it right," describes Roy. Her eponymous fashion line can be found for sale at www.rachelroy.com, while her Rachel Roy diffusion apparel and accessories line at US department store Macy's.

Other collaborators with Blahnik include US creator Isaac Mizrahi, who announced recently their expansion into footwear. Mizrahi, who paired with the Spanish creator in 1988, announced in October last year that the Fall 2012 will include a launch of affordable line of shoes, bags, jewelry, and small leather goods, with prices ranging from $38-$348.
