September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund (LMOCF) encourages everyone to join in the fight against ovarian cancer.
Since launching the fund in 2012, LMOCF has continued to educate women about the disease, supporting those who are undergoing treatment and fund research for a cure.
LMOCF has donated over $300,000 to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to help support cutting-edge research that is currently being conducted by Dr. Carol Aghajanian, Chief of Gynecological Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Aghajanian is an expert in "PARP," and as a first step in treatment, PARP inhibitors tell doctors exactly how to identify the type of ovarian cancer that a patient has (which has been a major challenge in ovarian cancer treatment).
