Aspiring supermodel Kendall Jenner recently revealed her plans to drop her last name for the sake of her modeling career.

The 18-year-old "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star clarified that she has been referred to as just "Kendall" ever since she started modeling for Marc Jacobs and Giles last year, according to US Weekly.

"I did it last year at all the castings too! I only go by my first name," she said.

"I can't believe that's actually becoming a story. It's just for my work. I did that last season as well. It's not as big a deal as people are making it out to be," she added.

Kendall also explained that the decision to drop the Kardashian-Jenner surname was all on her. "It was my choice," she revealed.

In an interview with Teen Vogue's September issue, the reality TV star admitted that her last name was of no benefit to her modeling career, Vanity Fair reported.

"People didn't want to take a chance on me, I think because I was sort of known. They were a little bit on the fence about it. Some people might think that what I've done before made it easier for me to get jobs, but it was actually a disadvantage. I had to work even harder," she dished to the publication.

Meanwhile, Kendall was recently involved in a controversy that placed her and sisters Kim and Kylie in a bad light.

The trio, who attended this month's MTV VMAs were spotted texting during a special tribute for the events that took place in Ferguson, Missouri, the Huffington Post noted.

"I just specifically remember not texting and bowing my head down for the moment of silence and that's all I have to say about that," she explained.

She also told Teen Vogue, "It wasn't true, because I remember specifically sitting there bowing my head down for the moment of silence."

Seventeen-year-old Kylie added, "And I know a lot of people didn't even applaud for Beyonce. We were belting Beyonce!"
