George Clooney expressed his excitement Thursday, Aug. 28, for his good friends Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who secretly tied the knot this past weekend in France.

"How great is that?!" the 53-year-old "Ocean's Eleven" actor told Us Weekly. "I'm really happy for Brad and Angie and their whole family."

In a May interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jolie, 39, guessed that the two-time Oscar-winning actor would be the first to get married before she and Brad exchanged vows. The "Maleficent" star told the entertainment new show that she expected Clooney would be the first to have a ring on his finger.

Pitt and Jolie's wedding precedes Clooney's own upcoming nuptials to his fiancée Amal Alamuddin.

Jolie's father, Jon Voight, also released a statement, expressing how joyful he is for the newlyweds, according to People. "It seems like it was a beautiful, simple ceremony with all the kids involved," he said. "Must have been a lot of fun. I am very happy for them."

Other celebrities have also started sending their congratulations to the happy couple via Twitter.

"Congratulations Angie & Brad!!! Now let's work for the day when everyone can get married," "Rosemary's Baby" actress Mia Farrow tweeted.

"although they both lied to me on separate occasions i congratulate both #angelina and #brad i'll never forget our special time together," wrote 59-year-old comedian-singer Sandra Bernhard on Twitter.

Author and broadcaster Pat O'Brien tweeted, "Congrats to Brad and Angelina. Two of the nicest people in Hollywood."

Pitt, 50, married Jolie in a secret ceremony Saturday, Aug. 23, after almost 10 years together, but the news only broke Thursday, Aug. 28.

The intimate ceremony was held at their Chateau Miraval estate in France, and was only attended by a small group of close family members and friends, Us Weekly reported. The couple's children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 6, were said to be all involved in the ceremony.

The "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" stars announced their engagement in April 2012 after seven years together, Reuters noted.
