It looks like Comic Con was a great place for "Game of Thrones" season 5 spoilers as fans were treated to some exciting news on Friday when the bosses of the HBO hit series revealed nine new cast members for the upcoming season during a panel discussion at the event.

According to Entertainment Wise, around six thousand fans camped out overnight outside of the San Diego venue in a bid to see panelists John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarley, Kit Harrington who portrays Jon Snow, Rose Leslie who plays Ygritte, Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark and Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark plus several other cast members.

Show creators DB Weiss and David Benioff as well as author George RR Martin were also on hand and announced the names of the actors who would be joining the show which will be shot in Crotia and Spain when it returns in 2015.

New cast members will include Alexander Siddig, who will play Doran Martell, Nell Tiger Free as Myrcella Baratheon, Toby Sebastian as Trystane Martell, Deobia Oparei as Areo Hotah, Enzo Cilenti who will portray the character of Yezzan, Jessica Henwich who will play Nymeria Sand, Jonathan Pryce as High Sparrow and Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand.

When asked where he gets his inspiration for the characters from, author George RR Martin said: "When I'm writing from the viewpoint of the characters, I draw on myself. To make a character come alive, you have to look inside yourself.

"I am large - I can have multitude and a lot of characters can be pulled from one. I've never been an exiled princess or a dwarf or an eight-year-old boy, but we share a humanity.

"A lot of the plots are stolen from Scottish history, which is particularly bloody history; events like the Black Dinner and the Glencoe massacre, which we borrowed for the Red Wedding."

Meanwhile, new cast members will most likely be repeating history with the filming conditions on the "Game of Thrones" set.

Kit Harington's rumored girlfriend actress Rose Leslie talked about shooting scenes in Iceland earlier on in the series.

She said, "We were in the northern part of Iceland for the majority of seasons two and three and it was absolutely freezing. We had these thermals underneath the costume, which helped, and John [Bradley] had his big fat cloak on.

"It was beautiful, mesmerizing being in Iceland. The cold kind of wakes you up."

Speaking of waking up author, George RR Martin had some encouraging words for fans who planned to stop watching the show if it catches up to the books.

He said, "I encourage everyone to watch the show. I do also encourage people to read the books. In regard to the question of how to experience the story in its true form, I've said it before like this: How many children does Scarlett O'Hara have?

"In the book Gone with the Wind, she has three, but she has one child in the film. Of course, the true story is that she has no children because she never existed. She is a fictional character and there are two wonderful ways of telling this story.

"Who did Robb Stark marry? Was it Talisa, who died, or was it Jeyne Westerling, who lives, and who will be seen in the prologue of Winds of Winter?"
