Could you imagine Lucy Hale playing Anastasia Steele? Well, neither could she following her "uncomfortable" "Fifty Shades of Grey" audition.
According to Us Weekly, the "Pretty Little Liars" season 5 cast member admitted that she went out for a role in the upcoming adaptation of E. L. James' erotic novel. The 25-year-old opened about the casting process during a chat with MTV News.
Lucy Hale revealed, "It actually was just me [in the audition]," adding, "It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" follows the story of naive college student Anastasia Steele who falls for the wealthy, sex-crazed, powerful, controlling businessman Christian Grey.
Hale continued to describe her audition, "Very uncomfortable," adding, "But it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you're just gonna look lame -- hopefully, I didn't look lame."
The actress who plays high school student Aria Montgomery was considering portraying Anastasia because it was "something a little different" from her past work.
In addition to her role on the ABC Family hit series, Lucy Hale has also made cameos on "How I Met Your Mother," "CSI: Miami," "Baby Daddy" and "Private Practice" in recent years.
Meanwhile, the "Road Between" artist lost the role of Anastasia to Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith's daughter Dakota Johnson.
The up and coming actress will star in the film adaptation opposite "Once Upon a Time" actor Jamie Dornan, who took on the role of Christian Grey after Charlie Hunnam quit.
Lucy Hale did admitted that she really would have liked to be apart of the movie. She confessed, "I think any girl in my demographic would have loved to be a part of it."
Joel Crouse's ex-girlfriend added, "Mainly, I was just interested in doing something risky and doing something a little different than my character on PLL so it took me out of my comfort zone."
