Dakota Fanning decided to open up a little bit as she posed for the cover of Town & Country magazine's August 2014 issue.

Although the "Very Good Girls" star doesn't mind talking about her career she will not be sharing details about her hot older boyfriend Jamie Strachan, 32, anytime soon.

The 20-year-old actress told the magazine that she values her privacy. The blonde beauty explained, "I'm just never going to parade my personal life. If you choose to not do it, it's not hard to not do it...

"Any part of an artistic business is made better by there being a little mystery. That's what movies are about."

At times, Dakota Fanning's fame can be a burden as the young starlet admitted that growing up in the public eye has given people a sense of entitlement over her life.

Elle Fanning's big sister explained, "I'm super-happy that you've enjoyed watching me grow up.

"That's cool," but "because people saw me grow up, there's this weird sort of ownership that they feel for me and that is...difficult. Because it's not real; it's in their minds."

She continued, "People don't know me as much as they think they do. I'll be walking down the street and someone will say hello, and I'll go, 'Oh, hi!' I'll think I must know this person if they said hello, but then you realize, you don't know them."

Fanning even told the story of one of her weirdest fan experiences to her Town & Country interviewer. She explained, "For the most part people are nice and respectful. But sometimes... Once I was sitting in a booth like this one and a girl sat down."

Gesturing to the seat next to her she revealed she was blocked in and giggled, "I'm also a real personal-space person."

Continuing with her story the "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" actress revealed, "She said, 'Are you her? Or do you just look like her?' I'm eating my pancakes, and I say something like, 'Uh, I am her?' "

She continued, "I'm thinking, Will you just get up? I will say whatever you want!" However, she admitted, "as uncomfortable as that was-and I can never, ever imagine doing that-I almost love having that kind of experience, too.

"Who is the person who would come and sit in a stranger's booth? That is very interesting to me."

In the future Dakota Fanning admitted that she would like to direct films that are not so stereotypical.

She explained, "It's very hard to find a movie about a strong woman - one that doesn't have anything to do with a guy or the love of a guy or the heartbreak of a guy.

"Is that the only crisis that women deal with: love and loss of love and sadness? There's more to life than that."

Dakota Fanning's Town & Country August 2014 issue hits newsstands July 8th.
