One person was fatally shot while five were injured in two separate BET Awards pre-parties, which were "unauthorized and unaffiliated with the BET Awards," according to BET.

While the parties were related to the BET Awards, Los Angeles police officer Drake Madison confirmed they were not part of the official events.

In a party in Lure Nightclub hosted by rapper Meek Mill and attended by Lil Boosie, Mase, The Game, and Kyla Pratt, a man in his 20s was rushed to Cedars-Sinai after he was stabbed in the stomach on the dance floor following a fight, TMZ reported.

In a separate incident, one person died while four others were injured after gunfire at the Monalizza Restaurant and Banquet Hall. Police have yet to confirm whether the shooter fired from outside or attended the party, The Guardian has learned.

BET released a statement saying, "The network and all organizers will continue to maintain a safe environment for all planned activities."

With five nominations each, Drake, Beyonce and Jay Z are the top BET nominees.

While he was originally set to perform, 27-year-old rapper Drake will not attend BET. His "Worst Behavior" is nominated for the top prize, competing with Pharrell Williams' "Happy," Chris Brown's "Fine China," and Beyonce's "Drunk in Love" and "Partition."

Beyonce and Jay Z may not attend the event, as well. Their reps said their absence had nothing to do with the weekend pre-parties shooting and stabbing.

On the red carpet, rapper Nelly said "you can't place (the blame) on BET."

Upon arriving at the show, R&B singer Ne-Yo learned about the incidents and said, "I feel like the energy I give off is the energy I get back, and I don't give off that kind of energy."

Pharrell, Nicki Minaj, John Legend are among the stars who already arrived for the show where they are set to perform, ABC News reported.
