Hair Expert Gina Rivera Talks Spring Hair Trends: Pastel Hair, Long Bobs, Highlights, Headbands And More

Spring has sprung - and so have spring hair trends! Although we haven't yet put away our parks and peacoats, we're looking forward to finally seeing some April showers and springtime sun. We talked to hair expert Gina Rivera of Phenix Salon Suites - who previously told us on how to get the perfect pixie cut - to find out about the latest spring hair trends and how to find the best one for you.

What are some of the biggest hair trends this spring?

Hair is moving towards a more feminine side. Your shorter, harder pixie cuts are now becoming longer and a little bit softer. We're also seeing a lot tousled hair, moveable, with a lot of texture. You're seeing a lot of long, layered bobs with really soft curls - and how they're achieving these curls is not with a curling iron but with a flat iron, so it gives the hair more of a wave and texture. You're seeing a lot of chignons, but pieces are coming out around the face, with soft waves. Braids are still in, but a lot of strands are pulled from the braids and curled loosely to give it a more beachy, summery, slightly wavy, undone look. You're seeing a lot of deep side parts in the hair.

Reese Witherspoon has the cutest haircut right now, with the sideswept bang and the long, layered bob, which gives it some asymmetry.Kim Kardashian has that loose, wavier look right now. Bobs are coming back, like Kelly Ripa's. Overall, it's just feminine and soft - picture yourself on a beach.
