Vanessa Hudgens Twitter: Austin Butler's Girlfriend Gains 15 Pounds for 'Gimme Shelter' Movie, Twerking 'Spring Breakers' Star Recalls Connection with Baby as She Takes on 'Emotionally Draining' Role

Vanessa Hudgens is known for her chic style and her unique posts on her Tumblr page but now the actress has decided to turn the focus on her talent with her film "Gimme Shelter."

According to E! News, in the film Austin Butler's girlfriend plays Apple, a homeless pregnant 16-year-old who finds help at a suburban shelter.

The Ron Krauss directed film stars Rosario Dawson as Apple's mom and Brendan Fraser as her rich Wall Street business man father whom she has never met.

Vanessa Hudgens revealed, "Every single day was definitely a challenge but one I embraced with open arms," adding, "It was just so thrilling to be able to push myself every day and see how far I could take it.

"Probably the most physical and emotionally draining scene was my birthing scene."

The "Spring Breakers" star confessed, "I've never shot a birthing scene and I ended up popping blood vessels in my face." Hudgens referred to the experience as "surreal."

She went on to say, "I mean, I totally had a connection with my baby-my movie baby-and I just had so much love for her but afterwards they call 'cut' and take the baby away and I'm just left there hanging."

For the role the petite starlet had to gain 15 pounds and cut off her gorgeous long hair.

On the new poster for the film Hudgens is featured in a heavier frame with chopped short hair.

"The Frozen Ground" star revealed, "Me and the hairstylist started cutting it and Ron came into the room and he's like, 'It just looks like it's been so done,' and he said my character cuts it herself."

In turn the actress said. "So, I was like, I'll do it myself and then I just started chopping away. It was really freeing."

The actress admitted that she had no problem putting the weight on as she has described herself as a "foodie."

However, dropping the extra pounds proved difficult. She said, "Getting it off was the more difficult part," adding, "It was a lot of exercise...Just doing a lot of cardio, a lot of yoga and just really anything active."

"Gimme Shelter" is set to hit theaters on January 24th.
