Jennifer Lawrence 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Release Date 2013: 'Silver Linings Playbook' Star Poses for Variety Cover [PHOTOS] Looks Elegant Before Sequel Hits Theaters

Jennifer Lawrence recently posed for Variety magazine, promoting "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" before its 2013 release date. The "Silver Linings Playbook" star looked elegant in the photos going viral before the sequel hits theaters.

According to Variety, the "American Hustle" star, 23, admitted to the magazine that it's strange to play Katniss Everdeen, the film's teenage heroine.

"She is a very old 17, though," said Lawrence while laughing during the interview from the Atlanta set of the two "Mockingjay" movies, which are being shot back-to-back.

The role requires Lawrence to use her imagination, which is something that struck movie executives when she read for the role in March 2011. Lawrence, with all of her strong emotions, had blown them clean away.

"I teared up," recalled Nina Jacobson, the film's producer. "We had a lot of wonderful actresses at the audition, but it was game over at that point."

Ever since the Oscar winner landed the lead, her star has grown even more. Liam Hemsworth's co-star, who can now command $10 million a movie, has become one of the biggest female stars in the world, reported Variety.

And next month, Lawrence returns as the fearless Katniss, fighting to the death again after her Hunger Games victory has sparked a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.

"She really is the reluctant hero," said Lawrence about her character. "She's brave, but she's also scared, and she knows that things may wind up being far worse."

On the set, the starlet is happy to play the hero despite the character being a teenager, or the "pressure of portraying a screen personality that's become iconic."

"I love being here," added Lawrence. "It's like going back to school where it's a really fun school."

The popular screen star took time from her busy filming schedule to dish on the movie, and pose for some classic black-and-white photos. In one shot, Lawrence stares peacefully into the camera in a white blouse and black pants, with her hair pulled back on her head.

The film, featuring Christina Aguilera on the soundtrack, hits theaters on November 22.
