'World War Z' 2013: Brad Pitt's New Movie Twitter, Reviews, IMDB [PHOTOS;] WATCH Extended Clip from Film in Theaters on Friday

Reviews are in for Brad Pitt's expected blockbuster flick, "World War Z," which hits theaters on Friday.

Despite the difficult road making the highly-anticipated 3-D movie where Pitt battles a zombie pandemic, critics have praised it. The Los Angeles Times summed up the film as "part formulaic," but a winner in their hearts.

"It's good to have Pitt in the one-man-against-the-apocalypse role," said The Times' Kenneth Turan. "Though nothing about this part is a particular challenge, it's satisfying to see the actor handling being an old-school Mr. Intrepid without breaking a sweat."

The Wall Street Journal's Joe Morgenstern agreed that the film works "against heavy odds," but comes with some big faults.

"Any suggestion of 'World War Z' as the opening salvo of a franchise is dubious at best," Morgenstern wrote. "Yet, this enjoyable shambles of a sci-fi thriller, directed by Marc Forster in impressive 3-D, stands on its own as a powerful vision of planetary chaos."

The Marc Forster-directed, 116-minute film, which the actors filmed in England and the UK, was "surprisingly entertaining, even fitfully exciting," reported the Washington Post.

The flick focuses on Pitt's character, Gerry Lane, a United Nations employee who races against time to stop a zombie take over that threats to destory humanity, according to IMDB
