Carrie Underwood makes a memorable appearance at the Grammy Awards wearing a $31 million dollar necklace!

American Idol winner and country singer Carrie Underwood was the standout star of the 55th Grammy Awards when she appeared with a $31 million dollar necklace around her neck. The Johnathon Arndt necklace featured 381 carats of oval, pear, marquise and round brilliant white diamonds, according to examiner.com. Underwood also wore a Roberto Cavalli black strapless gown.

Underwood discussed the necklace with E! News. She stated “It’s heavy on my soul. I’m afraid someone is going to tackle me and steal it… It’s worth more than me.”

Underwood also won a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance and performed in a custom-made ivory Theia dress that projected images. Underwood sang “Blown Away” and “Two Black Cadillacs” from her album Blown Away while pictures and images moved along her dress.

Underwood commented on the dress backstage by stating, “On my last tour, we did an LED dress and that's where the idea sparked. We wanted it to be artful and dramatic.”

She also told US Magazine, “I just like to stand still and sing sometimes. So this was the best way to do that, and it still created something visually attention-capturing and beautiful."

Theia creative director Don O’Neill’s team worked non-stop to make sure that the dress was good to go for Underwood’s performance. The team stitched together 10 yards of Duchesse satin, 100 yards of tulle and crinoline and thousands of Swarovski crystals onto the bodice, according to upi.com.  A video production team then created the lighting effects that were projected onto the silver gown.
