New York Fashion Week kicked off with Heart Truth Red Dress runway show

New York Fashion week kicked off with the 11th annual Heart Truth Red Dress runway show. The runway show featured celebrities who walked the runway in support of women’s heart health. Each star was dressed in a red dress from a variety of fashion brands such as Badgley Mischka and Oscar de la Renta. The event took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan and was sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.

The stars were both nervous and excited to be walking the runway. Jillian Michaels, the famous personal trainer on the reality television show The Biggest Loser, stated to FOX 411: “I’m feeling hysterical. I’m slightly panicked.” According to ABC News Singer Toni Braxton stated, “Tonight I’m trying to figure out how to walk”. Braxton who was diagnosed with heart disease in 2007 walked the runway to her song “Un-break My Heart”. Braxton viewed the event as being very significant to her and even stated, “It’s very personal to me, which is the irony of the song ‘Un-Break My Heart’”.

Other celebrities who walked for the event were Wendy Williams, Minka Kelly, Kelly Osbourne, The Jenner family (Kendall, Kylie, and Kris), Brenda Strong and Gabby Douglas. Minka Kelly was also wary over her runaway walk when she told reporters, “I hope I don’t fall”. Kelly walked last year for the event and was inspired to walk again this year. TV personality Wendy Williams seemed to have a great time as she walked the runway. Williams sang and waved to the audience as she headed down the runaway. Olympic Gold-medalist Gabby Douglas practiced her walk before heading out. Douglas also was inspired by the event and stated according to ABC News, “It’s important to tell young girls to start now, to stay active, to eat healthy and live a longer life”.

The event ended with all of the celebrities coming together on stage to cheers and applause.
