Yoko Ono wife of Beatles, John Lennon considered 'divorce' of the Band was due to Paul McCartney. In a 1987 recorded interview recently released by the Library of Congress.
Ono affirmed Lennon was 'feeling very good' about the breakup, addmitting to inerviewer Joe Smith, "the Beatles were getting very independent. Each one of them [was] getting independent. John, in fact, was not the first who want to leave the Beatles. [We saw] Ringo [Starr] on night with maureen [Starkey Tigrett], and he came to John and me and said he wanted to leave. George [Harrison] was next, and then John. Paul [McCartney] was the only on trying to hold the Beatles together.
Yoko seems to point to Paul being the cause of the bands breakup stating "other thee thought Paul would hold the Beatles together as his band. They were getting to be like Paul's band, which they didn't like." John Lennons widow wanted to point out everyone in the Beatles wanted to breakup, and Paul had something to do with it.
The newly released Library of Congress recordings includes other music legends Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and Grahm Nash of the folk-rock group Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Mick Jagger of Rolling Stones, Ray Charles and David Bowie.
