Crow's Feet Before 40s? Here's What You Can Do!

How soon should we be expecting crow's feet?

You know the smile lines on the edges of your eyes that resemble winged eyeliner, but that it takes on a V-shape like -- as the name suggests -- the foot of a crow.

It starts with two lines, and without eye cream, you'll have a lot more.

Crow's feet are more apparent in our 40s, but they often start to show in our late thirties. In some cases, though, crow's feet lines can appear as early as our mid-20s!

What are Crow's Feet?

The skin around the eyes is thinner than the skin on the rest of our face. This is also why we can get dark circles and eye bags. Crow's feet are not fine lines, as they are deeper and more pronounced.

Like dark circles, crow's feet are a sign of aging. As we age, crow's feet lines will extend longer and go deeper. This happens as the skin around our eyes loses elasticity and natural oils. Hence, it is normal and inevitable for most of us.

Why Do We Get Crow's Feet?

Crow's feet are a sign of a happy life, a life well-lived. These are eye wrinkles that show lots of facial contractions from smiling and squinting, especially around the outer corner of the eye.

Loss of fat around the eye area can also make crow's feet more apparent.

Can You Prevent Crow's Feet?

Following through with a beauty routine for your face as young as you can is a good way to delay the appearance of crow's feet. SPF 30+ sunscreen should be a must for your skincare routine.

Also, avoid mirrored lenses when possible as it tends to attract sunlight and cause sun damage on your skin. Opt for sunglasses that have a sidebar and UV light filter.

Vitamin C serum can also help minimize the appearance of crow's feet.

Most importantly, start using eye cream in your 20s. Eye creams with Vitamin C, retinol and niacinamide can help prevent crow's line and other skin issues around the eyes.

What If I Already Have Crow's Feet?

Depending on how deep and pronounced your crow's feet lines are, consider getting a Botox in your thirties. Treatments like Dysport and Jeuveau work their magic on crow's feet lines, too.

Botox stops contraction when injected into the outer corners of the eyes, so the crow's feet will temporarily disappear for up to 4 months.

Dermal fillers for crow's feet can last up to a year. Keep in mind that topical anesthetic cream will be used for this treatment.
