“I Am A Victim Of Sexual Assault,” Says YouTube Sensation Eva Gutowski

YouTuber Eva Gutowski recently launched her biographical book titled "My Life As Eva: The Struggle Is Real," in which she mentioned many stories about her early life, including a horrifying sexual assault that she experienced when she was in school. Eva also released a short video with a title "I Am A Victim Of Sexual Assault", where she plays her 16-year-old self and how she deals with the aftermath of the rape.

In an interview with Seventeen, the 22-year-old stated, "I was horrified when it happened to me as someone, I dearly trusted, betrayed me. It was the worst 20 minutes of my life when the abuser and I were in the car going back and forth, where I kept refusing while he kept making excuses. It was a very long time to be in the car and I tried my best to reason with the person and put some sense into him without any success. My 'No' seem to fall on the deaf ears."

According to Daily Mail, the San Brea, California resident informed the police about the incident, but eventually, no charges were made against him as there were no witnesses. In the video, Gutowski showcased how she struggled to visit her high school for months and to see the face of the assaulter. Later, Eva asked her parents to withdraw the charges as she wished to concentrate on her studies.

Today, she owns a blog and a highly successful YouTube channel "My Life As Eva" with over 7.6 million subscribers. She also signed a book deal with Simon and Schuster, in which she initially didn't want to describe the terrible incident. But after learning of the case of Brock Turner, who raped an unconscious woman behind a dumpster, she carried on with their decision. "I was tired of seeing people going through such rough phrase without getting any kind of justice as their story seems too crazy to be believed. It was very difficult to recall and write the condition, but I had to do it so that no one goes through the same situations, ever," says Eva.
