Fake A Summer Tan Like A Celebrity: How To Get The 'JLo Glow' This Summer

Products come and go, but the essential must-have for every summer? That coveted sun-kissed glow.

While a spray tan is a safer alternative to hours of basking in the sun's harmful rays, the mess and mistakes that can come with self tanners might seem just as painful as an actual sunburn.

To avoid those common at-home tanning disasters, we hit up spray tanning expert to the stars and founder of Infinity Sun, Veronique Munro. With this golden wealth of knowledge, you'll be guaranteed an even glow with no clean up required.

Stay Streak Free. The struggle to keep your tan on your skin and not your clothes is real. "To avoid this mess, always take out a hair dryer before applying, as bending can also create smudges where wet skin overlaps," Munro wisely advised.

The tanning pro continued, "Use cool air to dry the sunless tanner onto skin. Now you're free to get dressed but try to stick to somewhat loose and dark clothing."

Fake Tan Flawless. To prevent spotty mistakes, Munro suggests to take a little bit of moisturizer and apply a very light film to trouble spots (knuckles, feet, elbows) and allow it to absorb into the skin.

The tanning pro says this will act as a barrier in those areas. "Then apply your sunless tanner and the dry areas will not develop any darker than the rest of the body," she said.

Lighten Up A Little. There are actually smart ways to remove that extra tanner. Simply fill a bath with warm water and essential oil (like lavender or eucalyptus). Then in a cup, mix ½ cup of baking soda and the juice of one lemon into a paste.

"The lemon will bleach the color out of the skin, as will the baking soda. The paste will act as a strong exfoliant," Munro explained. "Now you can scrub away the color, sit in the essential oil and get soft, silky and lightened skin," the glow pro stated.
