Whitney Houston's First-Ever Live Album Coming in November

A live album of the late singer Whitney Houston will be released on November 10, The Guardian reports.

Music mogul Clive Davis announced on Tuesday on NBC's Today that Sony Music Entertainment's Legacy Recording is releasing the well-loved singer's first-ever live CD/DVD album more than two years after her death, in February 2012.

The album is entitled "Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances" and contains 16 tracks on the CD and 19 performances on the DVD.  Included in the release is her 1991 Super Bowl rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner."

"Stemming from the '80s and '90s, she, without question, was the greatest vocalist in the world. I want history to know that," Davis, who is credited with discovering the singer in the early 1980s, said of Houston and the album in his Today announcement.

"This CD/DVD will establish that there are no one like her. It's a phenomenal album. This is her legacy. This is a clarion call to the world that she was, in her time, the greatest singer" he said.

Davis, 82, also spoke of the tragedy leading up to and surrounding the singer's untimely demise.

"It was a marvel that she was as powerful and incredible as she was. But bittersweet that she died too young," Davis said.

The Grammy-winning record producer and music industry executive said Houston's mother, Cissy, helped him pick the tracks for inclusion in the album and gave him her blessing for its release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"It definitely shows why she was totally unique, absolutely in the first rank of all time. For me, it's been very emotional," The Guardian quoted Davis as saying. "The set vividly confirms that there really was no one like her. It also makes the tragedy of losing her so young so very painful," he said.

The producer wrote the liner notes for Houston's posthumous album "I Will Always Love You: The Best of Whitney Houston," released in November 2012.
