Taylor Momsen's Band The Pretty Reckless Makes Billboard History; Gossip Girl Alum Says ‘Acting Isn’t What I’m Pursuing’

While she was known as Jenny Humphrey in "Gossip Girl," The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen has admitted she has no plan to go back to acting as she is pursuing her career as a rock musician.

"Acting really isn't something I'm pursuing. I quit acting almost five years ago, and you could say that was always my intention. Acting was always, for me, a day job. It's something that paid the bills. That's how I viewed it," Momsen told Music Radar.

"To try to predict the rest of my life and what I'll do far into the future is kind of insane, but no, acting isn't what I'm pursuing at all," she added.

Momsen said she never considered herself an actor but "a musician who just happened to be on a TV show."

Since Momsen became the vocalist of The Pretty Reckless, she has not acted but made two records and toured a lot with guitarist Ben Phillips, bassist Mark Damon and drummer Jamie Perkins.

"The people at the shows are there for the music. They've bought the records and have listened to the songs, connected with them. That's all you can ask for, really," the 21-year-old singer and songwriter Momsen explained.

As a songwriter, Momsen told Go Upstate she wants "the listener to go in with an open mind of having no preconceived notions or anything convoluting what they're hearing for the first time."

After The Pretty Reckless band's first song "Heaven Knows" reached number one on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart, their second song "Messed Up World" also topped the chart recently.

This makes The Pretty Reckless the only band with a female vocalist to top the list with its first two hits, according to Billboard.

In 1990, Alanna Myles' "Black Velvet" also topped the chart for two weeks and in April 2013, Halestorm fronted by Lizzy Hale also ranked number one with their song "Freak Like Me."

Also, The Pretenders fronted by Chrissie Hynde led the chart with "Don't Get Me Wrong" in Nov. 1986 and with "My Baby" in Jan. 1987 while Stevie Nicks ranked number one in 1985 with "Talk To Me" and in 1989 with "Rooms On Fire."
