'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Gets Premiere Date, Official New Description And First Teaser Video [Watch]

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" now has a premiere date!

The fourth season of the critically acclaimed horror anthology series will debut on FX Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m., said the network in a statement released today.

The announcement comes with an official new description that reads: "American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience."

Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Evan Peters are returning for the new installment. They will be joined by newcomers Michael Chiklis ("The Shield"), Finn Wittrock ("All My Children"), Wes Bentley ("The Hunger Games"), John Carroll Lynch ("Fargo"), Patti LaBelle ("Miami Vice") and the world's smallest woman, Jyoti Amge, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Lange will play the lead role, a German expat who manages the freak show. Paulson, on the other hand, will portray a two-headed woman named Bette and Dot.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show's" premiere date is only less than two months away, but the show has not yet released any official photos, aside from a couple of snapshots that series' co creator Ryan Murphy posted on Twitter, Entertainment Weekly noted.

Last month, Murphy shared a photo of Paulson's two-headed character, and then just last week, he posted a photograph of Lange and Amge, presumably taken at the set of the show, while officially announcing Amge's addition to the cast.

Though fans have to wait for the release of the official photos, the show has dropped a super-short teaser shown below.

Earlier this week, Leslie Jordan was forced to turn down a recurring role in the upcoming installment of the show as he has joined the fourteenth season of the British reality television series "Celebrity Big Brother," which premiered Monday, Aug. 18, Digital Spy reported.
