"Jem and the Holograms" was a TV series that aired from 1985-1988. It was also a popular Hasbro toy line. Producers told The Hollywood Reporter "Jem is being reimagined for a whole new generation with themes of being true to who you are in a multitasking, hyperlinked social media age."

The film is currently in production and seeking fan participation. There are still roles to be filled and aspiring actors are encouraged to submit.

ABC points out additional facts about the newcomer, who is represented by Abrams Artists Agency and Show Entertainment. She hails from Florida, loves to cook, and was accepted into Harvard University. Peebles deferred twice from the institution to pursue opportunities with acting.

"I had deferred Harvard the first time to work in L.A.," she told Lake Mary Life, then after deciding to go to school, she landed a role on "Nashville" and had to defer again. "I literally had to rearrange my whole life and get on a plane and move to Nashville."
