This week, we honor classic beauty, Donna Summer, as our Thursday throwback.

The Queen of disco, Donna Summer's iconic voice and glamorous beauty are synonymous with the legendary era of disco music during the 1970s. The Boston born beauty rose to fame for her track, Love to Love You Baby. This would be the first of many disco dance tracks the gorgeous songbird would release, making her one of the most notable vocalists of disco music thanks to her talented vocal range and stylish swag appeal.

The 1970s disco scene was all about the glamour. When it came to hair and makeup, you had to go big or go home. Bold shade of saturated color and of course glitter, were the staples of every disco divas palette. Big, bold waves and curls were how tresses were made ready for the disco stage.

Donna knew how to make a visual impact that was just as bold and beautiful as her voice. The star often wore look-at-me shades to draw attention to her stunning eyes. Summer lined her top and bottom lids with thick black liner, which accented her sparkly eyeshadows and pristine brows. Gone were the days of understated natural makeup. Donna rocked bold shades of rouge to create a sexy flush and facial contour to accentuate her cheekbones. And the same went for lips. Lip colors didn't let the eyes and cheeks get all the attention. Rich, vibrant shades of pinks, reds, and oranges completed the look and were never considered to compete with the look. No feature was left untouched.

To get this look, you can't be timid! You've gotta throw all the makeup rules out the window and go for it. If you're afraid the look might be a little out there for today, simply coordinate your shades of eyeshadow and lipstick so that they compliment and don't conflict. We do admit, however, that this look is definitely one for nighttime, so save it for a concert, girl's night out, or fun party.
