Renee Zellweger is currently battling plastic surgery rumors after the "Jerry Maguire" actress recently slammed speculation that she's had work done on her face.

According to Hollywood Life, the "Bridget Jones' Diary" star, 44, spoke out about the public scrutiny in a new interview.

"When you read reports that you are starving yourself or that you are anorexic, it's very unfair and disappointing," said Zellweger to U.K's Daily Express. "It's not very pleasant to read reports which say you've gone too far or this or that."

Zellweger caused quite a stir when she stepped out in Burbank, California looking noticeably different, as if she had altered her face with surgery. There actress' face was no longer round and full, with her eyes appearing bigger than usual, which immediately sparked reports about her drastic new look.

However, the actress said she is completely offended by the chatter about her, calling the plastic surgery claims "unfair and disappointing!"

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time Zellweger has battled media rumors. In 2001, the petite 5'4″ actress gained 30 pounds for her iconic role in "Bridget Jones' Diary," reported HL.

Though the star lost the weight quickly after wrapping the first film, she then gained it back for the 2004 sequel, "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason." Her weight gain and loss sparked major speculation, which resurfaced when she looked super-slim at New York Fashion Week this fall.

But the longtime actress has a way of dealing with the public's negative comments.

"I have a lifestyle that involves keeping my sanity by going to the gym," said Zellweger to the newspaper.
