Karl Lagerfeld has once again managed to surprise audience at the Paris Fashion Week with his Chanel Spring 2013 collection. Members of the audience were indeed surprised, but the question is whether the surprise was a pleasant one or not.

The brand had models strutting the runway in a so-called "hula hoop" bag, which was an oversized quilted purse balanced on two black hula hoop-like circles. These hula hoops doubled as the shoulder straps of the bag. The bag also features a large flap which carries the symbolic looped C.

As innovative and cutting-edge as it may have been, it looks like the bag hasn't really managed to mesmerize the brand's fans. A Twitter user has even dubbed the bag as "awful", cheekily declaring, "Karl Lagerfeld is officially (sic) nuts."

Chanel has always created pieces that are not only stylish, but extremely classy. Owning a Chanel product is a dream every fashionista savors. Right from its bags, sunglasses and fragrances, to its footwear and apparel, Chanel is a towering icon in the world of fashion.

The big is strangely oversized and impractical. If it came without the hoop, the design would actually be chic and classic Chanel. It is made with iconic quilted leather and looks very stylish and striking, though a tad big in size. The color white adds to its elegance, making it look extremely classy. But the hoop ruins everything, making it appear clumsy and almost impossible to carry.

Defending the largely talked-about design, Lagerfeld told the Daily Telegraph, "It's for the beach. You need space for the beach towel, huh? And then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it."
