The news came after Gomez received backlash over her statement on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

On Oct. 31, the musician posted a statement on her Instagram stories, announcing that she would be taking a break from social media because her "heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror that's going on in the world."

"We need to protect ALL people, especially children and stop the violence for good," the actress wrote.

The Instagram story has put Gomez in hot water as netizens accused the 31-year-old singer of taking a 'neutral' stance on the matter.

After receiving negative feedback, she announced that she would be deleting her Instagram account in a follow-up story. As of writing, the account has not yet been deleted.

Selena Gomez holds the record for being the most-followed female musician and actor on Instagram, with over 430 million followers.

Her makeup line, Rare Beauty, has long been recognized for its philanthropic endeavors. One illustration of this is the Rare Impact Fund, a part of Rare Beauty's effort to increase mental health awareness.
