Everyone wants to enjoy healthy, beautiful hair. It seems to be a goal for many individuals, especially women. This goal should not be unattainable and hard to reach! In this article I am going to go through 6 tips for healthy hair that you can implement into your everyday lifestyle.

Hair products can be expensive and wasteful. It can also be difficult to know what to buy, especially since there are so many products on the market to choose from. It is important to know what you are looking for, and know what products are going to be the most beneficial for your hair type.

Not always are the cheapest products the best, nor are the ones that smell flowery fragrances. If you follow along with the tips I have listed below, you will be on your way to a healthier head of hair in no time!

Limit the Heat

For women, this can be extremely difficult. Many of you use a hair dryer to dry your hair, and styling tools such as straighteners and curling irons that need heat to operate. However, if you can limit the amount of times/days per week that you use these tools, your hair will be thanking you.

Try air drying your hair by showering the night before you need to style it. This will avoid using a hair dryer frequently. You can also opt out of using a straightener and curling iron by wearing your hair natural a couple of days per week.

Another option to try is wearing your hair up a few days per week to limit having to style it with heat. The ends of your hair will not be damaged as quickly and will be healthier in the long run.

Check the Ingredients in Your Products

When deciding on which products to use for your hair, make sure to check the ingredient label. This goes for products that are in your local grocery store as well as the ones in your salon where you may get your hair done. If you need help, ask your barber or hair stylist to help you pick out a healthy option of whichever product you are looking to buy.

You want to avoid all products that contain harmful chemicals and ingredients. This includes sodium chloride, sulfates, parabens and more. These can be detrimental to your hair health by stripping away natural oils and moisture from your hair strands.

Natural shampoos and conditioners are a good choice, as well as products that contain essential oils and ingredients intended to boost hair growth and overall health.

Use Low Level Light Therapy Treatment

Low level light therapy is a treatment that penetrates the scalp tissue to promote blood flow to the hair follicles. This technology is most commonly found in the medical devices known as laser caps. They are FDA-cleared for safe and effective use.

When blood flow is increased to the scalp tissue, the proper nutrients and oxygen are able to reach the hair follicles. This will promote new hair growth in problematic areas and thicker hair to the strands already existing.

These devices are a portable, hands-free hair growth option for both men and women. They can be used in the comfort of your own home at a time of day that is convenient for you.

Consume Foods with Protein

Eating foods that are rich in protein is a necessity for positive hair health. Since the human hair is made up of protein, it is essential that you are consuming this nutrient to make sure your body has enough to provide to your hair.

Foods that are rich in protein include nuts, eggs, vegetables, meats, and fish. If you find it difficult to incorporate these foods into your diet, try taking a multivitamin. This way you are guaranteed that your body is getting the appropriate amount of proteins so that both your hair and body can remain healthy.

Stop Using Elastic Hair Ties

As you may have already noticed, elastic hair ties are becoming less and less popular. This is because they are one of the worst ways you can use to pull back your hair. They can cause damage and breakage because of how tight they wrap around the hair strands on the head.

Try to avoid using these even though they are cheap to purchase. You can use alternative ways to pull your hair up such as scrunchies and other loose-fitting hair tie options. This will allow your hair to stay healthy even when wanting to throw it up in a ponytail or bun.

Use Essential Oils

Essential oils have been around for many years and have been used in ways to repair and benefit different areas of the human body. They are also beneficial to use for hair, when trying to repair or grow your locks.

The best oils to use for hair growth and health include peppermint, castor, tea-tree, lemongrass, coconut, and rosemary. All of these essential oils contain properties that can help your overall hair health.

These tips should be just what you need in order to keep your hair at its healthiest stage. Follow each, if not all of them and your will can be thriving in no time.

You may find one that works better than the other, or that is easier to implement into your everyday routine. If you stay consistent, you could see major improvements in the health of your hair.
