Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has recently criticized New Zealand singer Lorde's tribute for the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain and said she would rather be The Rolling Stones than The Beatles.

In an interview with Billboard, Iggy pointed out, "Lorde is not Kurt Cobain's peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don't think it's appropriate."

"Nothing against her, but I think when you're doing a tribute to someone that's dead, generally it should be the person's peer," she commented on Lorde's performance intended as a tribute to Cobain at the Nirvana's Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony on April 10.

During the event, Lorde sang Nirvana's "All Apologies." Other artists who performed tribute songs to Cobain with Nirvana's remaining members bassist Novoselic, guitarist Pat Smear, drummer Dave Grohl are St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, and Joan Jett, NME reported.

Prior to this, Iggy has set a record the Beatles used to solely hold as the only artist to have number one and number two songs simultaneously on the charts.

The record was set for the first time in Feb. 1964 with The Beatles songs' "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You" and for the second time by Iggy with her currently number one song "Fancy"  with British singer Charli XCX and number two song "Problem" with Ariana Grande.

On the other hand, the rapper seemed to have downplayed the achievement.

"It doesn't mean anything. I'd rather be The Rolling Stones," Iggy said.

In April, Lorde apparently defended Iggy when publication Complex featured Iggy's picture on the cover and criticized her in the reviews.

"Bugs me how publications like Complex will profile interesting artists in order to sell copies/get clicks and then s*** on their records?" Lorder commented at the time.

Apparently, Lorde is not getting the same thing from Iggy, who just turned 24 and celebrated her birthday with boyfriend Nick Young in Los Angeles. Young used to be Lorde's supporter, Daily Mail reported.

Lorde is yet to comment on Iggy's remarks.
