It looks like Theo James may be taking a break from "Divergent" cast girlfriend Shailene Woodley as the hot actor is said to be in a casting battle with Ian Somerhalder.

According to Entertainment Wise, there has been a lot of speculation as to who will land the lead role in the movie adaptation of Rebecca Fitzpatrick's bestselling novel, "Hush Hush."

The rights for the movie were said to be optioned back in 2012 and expected to begin filming last fall however, shooting has yet to start.

Fans have been debating whether James could be up for the part of Patch Cipriano. The book follows the story of 16-year-old Nora Grey who becomes interested in Patch, her hot yet mysterious biology partner.

It is later revealed that he is a fallen angel desperate to be human again.

Also rumored to be up for the role is "The Vampire Diaries" season 5 star Ian Somerhalder.

In the past the actor expressed interest in the role of Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise but unfortunately was never considered for the part.

Both James and Somerhalder have experience portraying characters from novels, making them perfect contenders for the lead in "Hush Hush."

Despite fan speculation the author of the book revealed that she believes that it will be difficult to cast the roles of Nora and Patch.

Fitzpatrick explained, "That's always the hardest part to nail in any movie - making sure you get the right actors and that they're portraying the characters well."

She went on to say, "I started writing "Hush, Hush" almost ten years ago, so I was picturing actors who are obviously now too old to play the parts. I wanted Steven Strait for Patch and Emmy Rossum for Nora, but that won't work anymore."

Since those options are out the writer said that as far as casting goes she "would hope for someone that hasn't been discovered yet."
