Sure all the glitz and glam from our favorite awards shows is super fun to recreate, but you can never go wrong with a simple fresh-faced look.

We spotted Kristen Bell out and about looking ever the glowing new mom at the latest Variety Breakthrough of the Year Awards and decided to tap her celebrity makeup artist, Simone Siegl, to get the beauty scoop on how she created the simply chic look for the event. Check out her expert tips on how to nail this beautifully easy makeup in just five effortless steps and let us know what you think!

No look will come out right without a clean, blank canvas for you to start with.  Siegl agrees. "I like to first start with Neutrogena Naturals Face Wash ($8) and follow with my star's choice of day cream," she explained. "Clean skin lets makeup go on smooth and lets you see which areas need more or less attention."

Bell's look for this event was all about the eyes, proving that playing up one facial feature is sometimes all you need to turn heads. Simone went for a smoked out look on Kristen this time around. "I used the Les 4 Ombres ($59) Quad Eyeshadows in shade Enigma #19 to give her a soft smoky look and bring out her blue eyes," the makeup artist told us. "I then added a smudge dark grey liner on top of the lid, all the way until the middle of the eye to open them up."

No eye makeup look is complete without spruced up lashes. "Don't be shy with mascara," Simone recommended. "For Kristen's eyes, I then added a few layers of mascara. I really love Osmosis Colour Defining Mascara ($18)". The rich formula coats each lash with panthenol and wheat protein to combat brittleness and breakage.

And for the final touches to cheek and lips, Simone kept things simple and understated. "I brushed on a little Les Tissages De Chanel Blush in Tweed Sienna ($45) on the apples of her cheeks to give it a fresh look," she explained. The gorgeous blush features two contrasting shades with a subtle shimmering powder for a natural glow. "And to finish up her look, I added color to Kristen's lips by applying Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Juicy Peach ($9)," Simone noted.  Made with fruit extracts along with mango and shea butter, the balm-like formula glides on easily, for a sheer wash of color that lasts for hours.

Easy and done! A little makeup goes a long way! What do you think of Kristen's 'simple says it' makeup? Let us know with a note below!
