Recently, Demi Lovato took to Twitter to talk to her fans. The "Let It Go" singer addressed her fans' criticisms about her absence from the People's Choice Awards 2014 on the social media site.

The 21-year-old performer took some time off from the spotlight, but her followers weren't happy about her decision to get in some R&R, according to E! Online

The "Neon Lights" singer was nominated for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Music Fan Following at Wednesday's awards. But the pop star chose not to attend the annual ceremony, which angered many of her supposed fans, reported E!

Several of her "hot and bothered" followers fired off angry tweets aimed at Lovato, who announced that she was leaving "X Factor" late last year. But the former Disney darling decided not to take the criticisms lying down, defending her decision to skip the Los Angeles show.

"...Just hopped online to check twitter and some 'fans' are being really mean :(," tweeted the blue-haired pop starlet on Wednesday. "I'm not a the PCA's because as I have stated before, I'm taking as much time off this month as possible."

Lovato, who is supposedly engaged to her rumored on-again boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, also thanked  those who have been understanding about her much-needed break.

"I haven't taken a substantial amount of time off in a long time and now I am," explained the singer, who hangs out with Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. "Thank you for those who voted and understand why I am away."

The performer may have skipped the ceremony, but she let her followers know that her eyes were on the prize.

"If it means anything, I'm still crossing my fingers!!" revealed Lovato on Twitter. "Your support means EVERYTHING to me."

But Lovato had a lot more to say on the site, talking about her "two types of fans."

"There are 'fans' who say they support me, then they hate on me, my personal life and my loved ones....And then there are my LOVATICS!!!" wrote the anti-bullying advocate. "THEY are the BEST fans an artist could ever ask for.... I LOVE YOU!!!"

Aside from the Twitter talk, the pop star won two People's Choice honors for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Music Fan Following. Finding out about the victories, Lovato shared her appreciation on social media.

"YAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" tweeted the former "Sonny With a Chance" after her win. "I told you my LOVATICS are THAAAA S--TTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M. SO. EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you guys. SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! #FavoriteFemaleArtist #FavoriteMusicFanFollowing #ILOVEMYLOVATICS!!!!!"
