Pro Figure skater Ashley Wagner has become a CoverGirl! Just two weeks after the cosmetics brand enlisted Katy Perry as their new ambassador, they announced Ashley as their newest face. Wagner has now become apart of an A-list roster of celebrities that are bringing easy, breezy beauty to the world!
As a self-professed "girly girl," Ashley knows a lot about makeup. Just before the Winter Olympics kick off in Russia next February, she will be putting her beauty knowledge to the test by appearing in ads for the makeup company. The 22-year-old will also be modeling CoverGirl's products during her gold medal competitions.
Ashley dished on her favorite products from the iconic brand. "I am a total girly-girl when it comes to makeup and putting together that whole package for the ice, so for me I usually like to pick out either a bold lip or a bold eye," the star athlete shared. "Especially for my rock-and-roll program I love to play up the eyes so much, and I use this amazing mascara, the Flamed Out Mascara by CoverGirl, and it gives my lashes just this perfect look. It really helps pull together this really bold eye."
According to E! Online, Ashley has been doing her own hair and makeup for competitions since age 8. She has already figured out her beauty look, incorporating another one of her fave CoverGirl's products, for next year's Olympics.
"I'm all set," said Ashley. "I'm skating to 'Shine On Your Crazy Diamond' by Pink Floyd, so I'm going with a sexy rocker vibe with a nice dark smoky eye. The ice washes you out, so you need something with a lot of color, which is why I use CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Molten Black. I'll also be adding a red lip."
As for her hair, she says she's going to do a "high sleek ponytail with volume in the front." And that's just the first part of her beauty plan, which will also include a softer beauty look.
"My longer program is the opposite end of the spectrum. I'm skating to [music from] Romeo and Juliet, so my look is going to be soft and romantic: Gray eye shadow with little bit of brown and CoverGirl's Lip Perfection Lip Color in Rapture, which is a coral shade," she says. "I'm putting my hair up into this bohemian braid-It's actually kind of cool, I learned it from a YouTube video-It requires a lot of hairspray and prayer. I do two French braids and then tie the ends in knots and knots and knots and fold it under and pin it in."
The award-winning skater also uses the brand's items off the ice, reported People StyleWatch. "My favorite off-the-ice CoverGirl product would have to be the nail gloss," added Ashley. "I love playing around with fun colors and making different designs. For me, I absolutely love this brilliant red color called Lasting Love, which is so perfect for my Romeo and Juliet program. Plus, the top coat is really shiny so I only have to put on one coat. It also dries super quick and easy, so I'm on the go."
